Pessimistic speaking, this movie was an attempt to recreate the atmosphere of Fargo in the Wild West. The pilot case full of money, the good sheriff, who in the end gets out of the mess without lasting problems, the normal guy who gets in trouble with a cartel. But optimistic speaking it is the Cohen attempt to make a western. Like Tarantino, the Cohens don’t focus on one genre but on their own style. Like the Hateful Eight is a Tarantino western, No Country for Old Men is a Cohen western. I enjoyed watching who the Cohens imposed their style on this genre like I would enjoy any other genre with the Cohen style. It is not a masterpiece, like Fargo. It doesn’t give that sense of closure. Maybe this is because it is an adapted screenplay, but nevertheless, it is at most enjoyable, but not excellent.
